Grade 11 German Writing Notes

This focused study page introduces Writing and provides a revision activity. Use it alongside your classroom notes and the current curriculum design.

Key ideas

Good writing responds to a clear purpose and reader. Plan the main points before drafting, choose an appropriate format and connect ideas in a sensible order. Revise meaning and organisation first, then edit vocabulary, grammar, spelling and punctuation. A personal message and a formal request require different registers.

Practice activity

Write a short message in the target language requesting information about a school activity. Include a greeting, a clear request and a suitable ending.

Check your response

Check whether a reader could identify your purpose, the information requested and any action needed.

Revision questions

  1. Explain the key terms in this topic using your own words and a relevant example.
  2. Apply the ideas to the practice activity above. Show the evidence or steps supporting your answer.
  3. Identify one possible mistake or limitation in your response and explain how you would correct it.
