1. Population density

Question: A region has 12,000 people over 30 km². Calculate its population density.

Show answer and explanation

12,000 ÷ 30 = 400 people per km². Divide population by area and include the unit. The result is an average, not a statement that exactly 400 people occupy every square kilometre.

2. Migration

Question: Give one possible reason a family may move from one place to another.

Show answer and explanation

A family may move for employment, education or to join relatives. Explain a plausible connection between the reason and the move. Do not assume that all families move for the same reason.

3. Evidence over time

Question: Why are observations from two comparable dates more useful than one photograph for discussing a change in land use?

Show answer and explanation

A change needs evidence from more than one time. Comparable dates and locations help identify what has changed. One photograph can describe a place at one time but cannot by itself show the direction of a trend.

4. A community decision

Question: What information could help a community choose where to place a shared facility?

Show answer and explanation

Consider who needs the service, access routes, safety and the suitability of available sites. Explain how the information affects the choice. A decision based only on the loudest speaker may miss the needs of other users.

5. Cultural heritage

Question: Suggest a respectful way for learners to document a local tradition.

Show answer and explanation

Ask appropriate permission, listen carefully to knowledgeable community members and record the explanation accurately. Identify whose account it is and avoid claiming that every person follows the tradition in exactly the same way.

How to review your Social Studies answers

  1. Read the instruction. Identify whether you need to name, explain, compare, calculate or give an example. Answer the task that was actually set.
  2. Make your reasoning visible. Show working for a calculation or give the detail that supports a written answer. A correct result without understanding is difficult to apply to a new question.
  3. Correct one difficulty. Record the error and explain the change needed. Try a similar example later without copying the worked answer.

Teachers and parents can use a short set to start a discussion, identify a misunderstanding and select a follow-up task. These activities provide focused practice; they do not certify coverage of every curriculum outcome or replace classroom teaching.
