1. Reversible change

Question: Compare melting ice with burning paper as examples of change.

Show answer and explanation

Melted water can be frozen again under suitable conditions. Burning paper produces new materials and cannot be reversed simply by cooling it. Use burning only as a discussed or teacher-controlled example; do not perform it unsupervised.

2. Pollination

Question: What is transferred during pollination, and where is it transferred?

Show answer and explanation

Pollen is transferred from an anther to a stigma. This can happen within a flower or between flowers. Pollination is not the same event as fertilisation, which involves the joining of reproductive cells.

3. An ecosystem change

Question: In a simple food chain, what might happen if the food available to a consumer decreases?

Show answer and explanation

The consumer may obtain less energy, move elsewhere or decline in number. State this as a possible effect because real ecosystems have other food sources and influences. Explain the relationship rather than assuming a single certain outcome.

4. Saving electrical energy

Question: Suggest two sensible actions that reduce unnecessary electricity use in a classroom.

Show answer and explanation

Switch off unneeded lights and equipment using the school’s approved routine. Adults should handle faulty wiring or unsafe equipment. Conservation means avoiding unnecessary use while maintaining appropriate lighting and safe learning conditions.

5. Interpreting a table

Question: A water sample has temperatures of 20°C, 25°C and 30°C at equal time intervals. Describe the pattern.

Show answer and explanation

The temperature rises by 5°C in each recorded interval. This describes the observations. It does not prove that every later interval will have the same increase, so avoid extending the pattern beyond the evidence without stating an assumption.

How to review your Science and Technology answers

  1. Read the instruction. Identify whether you need to name, explain, compare, calculate or give an example. Answer the task that was actually set.
  2. Make your reasoning visible. Show working for a calculation or give the detail that supports a written answer. A correct result without understanding is difficult to apply to a new question.
  3. Correct one difficulty. Record the error and explain the change needed. Try a similar example later without copying the worked answer.

Teachers and parents can use a short set to start a discussion, identify a misunderstanding and select a follow-up task. These activities provide focused practice; they do not certify coverage of every curriculum outcome or replace classroom teaching.
