Attempt each question before expanding its answer. These examples were written for this page; they are not extracts from a downloadable booklet or an official assessment paper.

1. Justice and fairness

Question: A group gives every enjoyable task to one learner and all difficult tasks to another. Explain a fairer arrangement.

Show answer and explanation

Share responsibilities using clear reasons and consider each learner’s participation. Fairness involves a process that can be explained, rather than favouritism. Connect the decision to respect for each person.

2. Stewardship

Question: A tap continues running after a school activity. Explain a responsible response.

Show answer and explanation

Close it if safe and appropriate, or inform a responsible adult if it is faulty. This connects care for resources to action. A reflection on stewardship should explain the effect of preventing unnecessary waste.

3. Forgiveness and repair

Question: How can a learner show that an apology for spreading an untrue story is sincere?

Show answer and explanation

Correct the story with the people who heard it, apologise to the affected person and change the behaviour. Words of regret matter, but practical repair helps address the harm. Avoid repeating the story more widely.

4. Service

Question: A class plans to help keep a shared area clean. What makes the activity useful service?

Show answer and explanation

The work responds to a real shared need and is organised safely with appropriate adult guidance. Agree on suitable tasks and necessary materials. Service is not improved by assigning unsafe work or humiliating those receiving help.

5. A reasoned choice

Question: A friend asks you to hide another learner’s lost property. Give a responsible response and a reason.

Show answer and explanation

Refuse respectfully and help return the property through the proper school channel. The decision protects honesty and the owner’s interests. A strong answer explains the principle and an action that follows from it.

How to review your CRE answers

  1. Read the instruction. Identify whether you need to name, explain, compare, calculate or give an example. Answer the task that was actually set.
  2. Make your reasoning visible. Show working for a calculation or give the detail that supports a written answer. A correct result without understanding is difficult to apply to a new question.
  3. Correct one difficulty. Record the error and explain the change needed. Try a similar example later without copying the worked answer.

Teachers and parents can use a short set to start a discussion, identify a misunderstanding and select a follow-up task. These activities provide focused practice; they do not certify coverage of every curriculum outcome or replace classroom teaching.
