Original practice questions with worked answers
Attempt each question before expanding its answer. These examples were written for this page; they are not extracts from a downloadable booklet or an official assessment paper.
1. Self-control
Question: Explain one everyday way a learner can practise self-control while learning about fasting.
Show answer and explanation
Speak respectfully even when annoyed and avoid responding to a disagreement with insults. The answer connects self-control to behaviour. The exercise does not determine an individual child’s religious obligations or health suitability for fasting.
2. Cleanliness
Question: Why is cleanliness important in learning about preparation for prayer?
Show answer and explanation
It encourages care for the body, clothing and place used for worship. Explain the purpose rather than listing unrelated actions. Follow the teacher’s guidance when learning the particular practices of preparation.
3. Keeping promises
Question: A learner agrees to return a borrowed book. What should the learner do if returning it on time becomes difficult?
Show answer and explanation
Tell the owner promptly, explain honestly and agree on a new arrangement. A responsible response respects the owner’s trust. Remaining silent and keeping the book indefinitely does not honour the agreement.
4. Gratitude
Question: Give one way to show gratitude for food without wasting it.
Show answer and explanation
Take a suitable portion and handle food respectfully, avoiding unnecessary waste. Connect gratitude to a practical choice. Do not claim that finishing an unsafe or unsuitable portion is required.
5. Kindness
Question: A younger pupil struggles to organise school materials. Suggest a kind, respectful form of help.
Show answer and explanation
Ask whether help is wanted, then assist with sorting the materials without taking over every task. The aim is to support the pupil’s ability and dignity. Mocking the difficulty would undermine that kindness.
How to review your IRE answers
- Read the instruction. Identify whether you need to name, explain, compare, calculate or give an example. Answer the task that was actually set.
- Make your reasoning visible. Show working for a calculation or give the detail that supports a written answer. A correct result without understanding is difficult to apply to a new question.
- Correct one difficulty. Record the error and explain the change needed. Try a similar example later without copying the worked answer.
Teachers and parents can use a short set to start a discussion, identify a misunderstanding and select a follow-up task. These activities provide focused practice; they do not certify coverage of every curriculum outcome or replace classroom teaching.
