Original practice questions with worked answers

Attempt each question before expanding its answer. These examples were written for this page; they are not extracts from a downloadable booklet or an official assessment paper.

1. Care for a neighbour

Question: In the parable of the Good Samaritan, what kind of response is shown by helping a person who is hurt?

Show answer and explanation

It shows compassion expressed through practical help. Connect the principle to an action such as seeking suitable adult assistance. A child should not be expected to handle a dangerous emergency alone.

2. Forgiveness and responsibility

Question: A friend apologises for damaging a borrowed pencil case. How can forgiveness and responsibility work together?

Show answer and explanation

Accepting an apology can help restore the friendship, while agreeing on repair or replacement addresses the damage. Forgiveness does not require pretending that no harm occurred. Explain both parts of the response.

3. Trustworthiness

Question: A learner promises to return a library book on Friday. Suggest a trustworthy action.

Show answer and explanation

Return it when promised, or explain promptly if a genuine difficulty occurs and agree on the next step. Trust grows when words and actions agree. Hiding the book does not solve the problem.

4. Gratitude

Question: Give a specific way to show gratitude to someone who helped you learn a difficult skill.

Show answer and explanation

Thank the person and explain what their help enabled you to do. You can also use the skill responsibly. A specific explanation is more meaningful than a memorised statement with no connection to the help received.

5. Peaceful disagreement

Question: Two classmates disagree about whose turn it is. Suggest a fair way forward.

Show answer and explanation

Listen to both accounts, check any agreed turn-taking rule and use a fair arrangement. Relate the response to respect and peace. Shouting more loudly does not establish who is right.

How to review your CRE answers

  1. Read the instruction. Identify whether you need to name, explain, compare, calculate or give an example. Answer the task that was actually set.
  2. Make your reasoning visible. Show working for a calculation or give the detail that supports a written answer. A correct result without understanding is difficult to apply to a new question.
  3. Correct one difficulty. Record the error and explain the change needed. Try a similar example later without copying the worked answer.

Teachers and parents can use a short set to start a discussion, identify a misunderstanding and select a follow-up task. These activities provide focused practice; they do not certify coverage of every curriculum outcome or replace classroom teaching.
