2027 Grade 5 IRE practice assessments should help you plan, practise or review a clear learning goal. This page combines guidance for using practice assessments, an illustrative subject example, a follow-up task and general KCSERevision resource links. Adapt the activity to the current curriculum and the learning already taught in class.
Grade 5 IRE: KCSERevision resources
Grade 5 IRE: further practice
Discuss a teacher-approved Islamic teaching through a case in which someone is trusted with a borrowed item. Identify the responsibility involved and compare returning it carefully with making an excuse for damage. Explain the reasons for the preferred response and the practical action needed to put a mistake right. Ask for an explanation alongside the answer or product. Use one changed example to check whether the learner can transfer the idea.
Planning check — Grade 5 IRE practice assessments: Use a small relevant section first. Separate knowledge gaps from reading or time-management difficulties, then choose a targeted follow-up activity instead of repeating the whole paper immediately.
Grade 5 IRE: assess a defined skill and use the feedback
A practice assessment should make the intended learning visible. Choose a limited set of skills and state the conditions: independent or supported work, available materials and the expected response form. Use results to guide teaching rather than treating one short attempt as a complete judgement of ability.
- Set the demand. Decide whether the task asks for recall, application or explanation. Use a question that actually requires that demand instead of assigning marks for an unrelated feature such as decorative presentation.
- Prepare the response guide. List the essential reasoning or observable features before the attempt. The model below supplies a starting point; allow other valid methods or interpretations supported by evidence.
- Collect usable evidence. Record which parts were completed independently and where a prompt was needed. If learners misunderstood the instructions, review the wording before interpreting every wrong response as a subject gap.
- Plan the response. Give feedback on one important strength and one attainable improvement. Provide a related second attempt to check whether the feedback was understood.
Keep the first and second responses for comparison when practical. Improvement should be visible in the method, explanation or performance being assessed. A higher total can be useful, but it should not replace a description of the learning that changed.
Worked teaching example: respectful speech when accounts differ
Illustrative activity: Two classmates describe the same event differently. A third learner repeats one account as certain without checking it.
Task
Explain a careful response and relate it to a relevant Islamic teaching about speech or conduct already studied.
Worked reasoning or expected evidence
The response should distinguish what was personally observed from what was heard, avoid spreading an unverified accusation and seek appropriate clarification. The subject explanation needs an accurate reference and context from taught material.
A common difficulty to check
Confidence in a speaker does not prove every reported detail. Identify the evidence and what remains uncertain.
Extend or adapt the task
Rewrite a message so it acknowledges uncertainty without repeating a harmful claim as fact.
Grade 5: compare methods and justify a choice
Give two possible responses to the example and ask which is better supported. The aim is to make the learner notice the evidence or method behind an answer. A useful comparison can include one partly correct response so the discussion identifies exactly where it stops working. Follow with an independent task and ask for a short justification. Avoid assessing only speed when the intention is reasoning. Use the explanation to decide whether the next activity should strengthen a prerequisite, provide more varied practice or extend the idea.
A response guide for a short assessment
Check three features: whether the response addresses the question, whether the evidence or method is appropriate, and whether the conclusion follows. Record the features separately. Give a related second attempt after feedback; do not treat the supplied model as the only acceptable wording.
