2027 Grade 2 IRE Lesson Plans

2027 Grade 2 IRE lesson plans should help you plan, practise or review a clear learning goal. This page combines guidance for using lesson plans, an illustrative subject example, a follow-up task and general KCSERevision resource links. Adapt the activity to the current curriculum and the learning already taught in class.

Grade 2 IRE: further practice

Discuss a teacher-approved Islamic teaching through a case in which someone is trusted with a borrowed item. Identify the responsibility involved and compare returning it carefully with making an excuse for damage. Explain the reasons for the preferred response and the practical action needed to put a mistake right. Model one example, allow an independent attempt and use concrete objects or pictures when an explanation is difficult.

Planning check — Grade 2 IRE lesson plans: Select a lesson outcome before selecting activities. Check that the listed week range fits the school’s actual teaching sequence; a matching term alone does not establish topic coverage.

Grade 2 IRE: build a lesson around a visible learning goal

A lesson plan should connect a clear goal, a manageable sequence and a way of checking understanding. Select one teaching focus from the example below rather than trying to cover every possible skill in a single session. Allocate time using the school timetable and preserve a short closing check.

  1. Find the starting point. Ask one diagnostic question or request a small demonstration before teaching. Listen for the method or explanation, not merely the final answer. This helps distinguish a missing idea from a simple slip.
  2. Model the reasoning. Show a worked response and explain the decisions as you make them. Use a diagram, spoken example or physical representation where it clarifies the subject idea. Invite learners to predict the next step.
  3. Move from support to independence. Let learners try a related task with guidance, then change one feature for an independent attempt. Provide a prompt that supports the thinking without supplying the whole answer.
  4. Check and respond. Use a brief exit task that tests the stated goal. Group the responses by the understanding shown, identify a useful follow-up and record an adjustment for the next lesson.

After teaching, record what the class actually managed, the misconception that appeared and the response that helped. A reflection such as “repeat the topic” is less actionable than naming the exact step that learners could not yet explain.

Worked teaching example: trust and responsibility in an everyday situation

Illustrative activity: A learner is asked to keep a classmate’s book safely until the next lesson. The book is later needed while the owner is absent.

Task

Explain a responsible response and relate it to Islamic teaching about trust using material already studied with the teacher.

Worked reasoning or expected evidence

Keeping the book safe, respecting the owner’s permission and returning it as agreed demonstrate the practical meaning of responsibility in the situation. The religious explanation should use an accurate taught reference. This original scenario does not supply or invent a verse, hadith or ruling.

A common difficulty to check

A response that simply states a religious term without explaining the conduct does not show application. Identify the obligation, the action and the reason.

Extend or adapt the task

Discuss how a misunderstanding could be resolved respectfully. Ask the subject teacher to check the reference and interpretation used in a written response.

Grade 2: check understanding through a related second example

After modelling, offer a second example that preserves the main idea but changes an object, number or detail. Invite the learner to explain a choice in a short sentence or drawing. Separate the ability to recognise the idea from the ability to complete a longer written task. Use the first attempt to decide whether another demonstration or more independent practice is appropriate. When giving feedback, name a specific step the learner managed and one next step. Keep support visible in the record so later work can show growing independence.

A closing check for this lesson

Hide the model response and give a changed version of the question. Ask for an answer and one supporting reason. Sort the responses into ready to extend, needs another representation and needs a prerequisite check. Plan the next lesson from that evidence.
